Sunday afternoon we got the call that Darren's grandmother, Vera, had passed away. Darren left for Halifax that night to be with his family and stay for the funeral. It's hard to believe she's gone. We had just visited her in July, on our way to Newfoundland. We actually weren't going to go that way, but at the last minute, decided to go through Halifax and stop and visit. She was ninety-two years old… by all standards, a good long life. I'm sure Darren has his own fond memories of her throughout his childhoold, and I will always remember our visits to Halifax… we would always bring her something to eat and sit and chat for a few hours. This last visit was nice because Florence talked Vera's ear off, and thorougly enjoyed checking out all of the nick-nacks she had around her house, and Joe got to meet his great-grandmother. She will be remembered fondly and missed much.
