I love this day… it's the one day a year where you can tell people you'll see them next year, even if you'll be seeing them tomorrow.
We have exciting plans to welcome the New Year… We're going to read some stories with the kids, then watch the movie "Anchorman"… then we'll pop the cork on a bottle of champagne at midnight… Woo-hoo! We're party animals.
My mom was down the past week or so for Christmas, and managed to find a condo she liked, put in an offer and get it. She's happy, as it's a little less money than building the new house and it's a duplex, so they do the lawn and snow removal. Also, it's in a nicer, more established development. So, in keeping with the Luben tradition of relocation, she's moving down this way over the next couple months.
Today I spent a couple hours going through my dad's old collection of Mother Earth News magazines that my mom deposited in my garage last week. There are about twenty years worth out there, and he had some of them catalogued in fancy binders. It's kind of hard to let go of them, as he really valued them. But, he died just prior to the Internet becoming popular, so looking information up on a whim wasn't so easy. Now I can just look on the website for achived articles. So, in the interest of de-cluttering and simplifying, I've sorted through them and kept a few, but boxed up the majority to pass on.
In the spirit of new year's resolutions, I bought a book called "Eating Mindfully" by Susan Albers, Psy. D. I figure rather than having some particular weight loss goal this year, I'll just work on putting more thought into what I eat and try to get on my treadmill regularly. Anyone else have any good resolutions this year?
