Despite getting an apparent solid eight hours of sleep, I just totally have not been able to be very productive today. I have that weighed-down, tired feeling about me, and even running up and down the stairs has been a challenge. So, rather than be overwhelmed by all the cleaning and household tasks that I should be attending to, I've just focused on getting some stuff done with the kids. Flo and I did some workbook stuff this morning, the kids played outside a bit, and I even got them to clean up the playroom by themselves without threatening (too much) or raising my voice. So, the day is not a total loss.
Some news that is likely to increase the energy level for both Darren and myself, is that Darren was approved to work down at the VA hospital in Martinsburg, West Virginia starting the first week of June. They're giving him office space there to do his current job, to help cut down on his commute. The improvement should be pretty substantial, considering it now takes him about two and a half hours one-way to get to work in DC. Driving to Martinsburg takes just about 30 minutes. Needless to say, this couldn't have come at a better time. We were both getting really burnt out with his schedule, and with a new baby coming in August, we would be completely lacking energy with his current commute.
So, the warm weather seems to be upon us here in western Maryland. I can't say I'm too excited about it. Being pregnant in the summer can be a tad uncomfortable. But, thankfully, we have central air, and I tend to plan activities that don't involve a lot of baking in the sun. I won't complain too much about the summer, because there's really no point in complaining about the weather. When we're all freezing in the winter, we're longing for the warm days of summer, so I try to tap into that and just go with it.
We have the Memorial Day weekend coming up this weekend, to which I'm looking forward. Darren has Monday off for the holiday, is taking Tuesday off, and has Wednesday off for his usual flex day, so we're getting a five day weekend out of the deal. Yeah! Monday, we're supposed to go to a BBQ at a fellow homeschooler's farm, and the rest of the weekend, we'll hopefully accomplish a few projects from our to-do list.
I'm about 28 weeks along with this pregnancy, and all seems to be well. We're still debating over names, not having decided on one for sure. This naming thing is challenging. There's just too many to choose from!
Well, off to watch Joe… he's in the backyard with the dog, and Flo's in the neighbor's yard playing with her friend. It's so peaceful… but it won't last for long!
