It's now just past midnight, and I'm waiting for Flo to fall asleep, and the subsequent arrival of Santa. I think she has hopes of catching a glimpse of Santa, and if she doesn't fall asleep soon, she just may. I'm accumulating quite a sleep debt lately, and can't wait to hit the pillow. Zofia is sprawled out on our bed, oblivious to the festivities.
We've had a nice holiday weekend so far. Darren took off Friday, and is off until Wednesday, so it’s made for a nice long weekend. We went to my mom’s for dinner yesterday. We brought a couple vegetarian dishes and dessert, and she did her best to accommodate us with some yummy veggies and a great big salad. The kids got to open a few gifts from her, I took a nice walk when there was a break in the rain, and we headed home by early evening.
This evening we went to the Christmas Eve service at our church, came home and opened one present, and tried, in vain, to get the kids to go to sleep early. I’m looking forward to their Christmas morning excitement, but if I don’t get some sleep myself, I might just be a Grinchy mommy. We don’t have any big plans for tomorrow, other than just hanging out with the kids at home. We decided to forego cooking a big meal, and are doing the all-American thing; going out to Chinese food. My mom and Tom are going to come down in the afternoon, and we’re going to go the Chinese place down the street. I figure the dietary impediment is worth the time and stress savings for the day.
Well, I hope everyone has a great holiday season. I’m off to check on Santa!
