Today was one of those days that just blew by. I got up, checked my email, got the kids breakfast, did my treadmill, did Flo's reading and math lessons, changed a few diapers in between all that, did some dishes, made lunch, put Joe down for a nap, took a shower, got dressed, argued with Florence about getting dressed, got Joe up, got him dressed, cleaned the snow off the truck, went to Sam's to look at a rug I'd like to get, but the kids drove me insane and I left, and finally, went to pick up Darren from the bus stop.
THEN… I came home, made dinner for Darren and the kids, argued with Flo about getting ready for bed, did more dishes, picked up toys, threw in a load of laundry, sat down and ate a sandwich and wrote in my journal…
Now you ask, what's left? It can only get better… Get the kids to bed, which will inevitably involve debating with Flo why she needs to go to bed, come downstairs and throw the wash in the dryer, empty the dishwasher, pick up the toys the kids took out since I picked them up before dinner, get myself ready for bed, watch American Idol, check my email again, read, go to sleep.
And guess what? Tomorrow, I get to get up and do it all over again! Of course, with minor variations. I wouldn't trade it, though. In some crazy way, it's great, and definitely character building.
Deep breaths.
