Veterans Day

Thanks to the Veterans of America, Darren has a nice long weekend this weekend, so we're enjoying some time at home doing various things that need to get done. It's been a few weeks since my last entry, and I always marvel at how time just gets away from me.

After months of deliberations over what to be for Halloween, all the excitement is over again for another year, and we're thrust into the holiday season once again. Flo and Joe thoroughly enjoyed trick-or-treating with their friends. And, for the second year in a row, Darren's parent's arrived a couple days before Halloween to visit for the week. We had a relaxing visit, and mostly hung around home, since it's still hard to do long day trips with the baby. Flo and Joe were thrilled to spend time with Nanny and Poppy, and they managed to behave themselves fairly well for the week, despite a few minor outbursts.

After visiting us, Bill and Betty Lou (aka Nanny & Poppy), headed north to Kingston, Ontario, to visit Darren's sister, Tina, who also just had a baby on October 21. Welcome to the world Ella Marie Helen LeBlanc! I think it's neat that Zofia will have a cousin so close in age. Hopefully they will get to know each other as they grow.

October went by quickly. Around mid-month, Darren got sick, and was kind of wiped out for a week, though he managed to drag himself to work, anyway. Joe got sick for one day, but thankfully, it was short-lived. And, as for me, I started to get a sore throat and feel kind of achy, but managed to ward it off, despite my chronically sleep-deprived state. So, now into November, we’re all feeling well and looking forward to the holiday season. Zofia is twelve weeks old today and growing like a weed. Flo and Joe are still fighting over who sits next to her every time we go anywhere in the car, but they love holding her, and having Flo around has been really helpful. I can trust her to hold the baby, or watch her in the crib while I shower or do things I need to get done. Joe loves to hold Zofia, too, but he still flops her around a little too much and can’t stop himself from kissing her continuously, so he needs some grown-up supervision. But, it’s so cute to watch them all interact.

This week, I have my traffic court date. Rather than just paying the fee for the speeding ticket, I decided to attend a hearing to explain my circumstances. I figured the worst that can happen is I’ll still have to pay the fee, but possibly showing and appealing to the court may make it so it doesn’t affect my driving record. I’m actually not sure how that works, and if Maryland has a point system and if the ticket would put points on my record. Nonetheless, I might as well give it a go. This week is one of those weeks where we have something going every day, and I’m tired just looking at our calendar. I’m seriously wanting one of those PDA cell phones where I can download my Outlook calendar on it, so I know where I’m supposed to be all the time.

We went to church this morning, and Flo’s friend, Megan, came home with us. So, now they and Joe are ringing the doorbell and putting an inflatable space alien doll thing on the porch and running away. They’re finding it hilarious. Unfortunately, the incessant doorbell ringing has woken up the baby, so this is where my blog entry ends for the time being. Hasta la vista!
